Connect Stripe and send your first invoice

5 minutes With video Last updated: August 2026

Once payments run in the same system as contacts and deals, manual reconciliation between bookkeeping and CRM disappears. You see per contact what was paid and what is still open.

Requirements

Before you start: You need an active and fully verified account with your payment provider. Without completed verification you can create test payments but cannot receive real ones.

Step by step

  1. Connect the payment providerOpen the payment settings and start the connection. You will be redirected to the provider, sign in and confirm the link.
  2. Create productsSet up your services as products, with price and description. Once created, you can reuse them in invoices, funnels and contracts.
  3. Add tax ratesEnter the tax rates that apply to you before issuing the first invoice. Correcting this afterwards is far more unpleasant in bookkeeping.
  4. Create and send an invoiceSelect the contact, add products, set the due date and send. The recipient gets a link and can pay online directly.
  5. Automate payment remindersSet up a workflow that automatically follows up on overdue invoices. It handles an uncomfortable part of your job without you having to remember it.
Tip: Run a real test payment with a small amount before issuing your first customer invoice. That way you see the whole flow from the customer side.

Common issues

The connection breaks off. Usually verification at the provider is incomplete. Check your account status there.

Payments do not appear on the contact. Payments are matched to contacts via the email address. If it differs, no link is created.

What comes next

For recurring revenue, set up subscriptions and payment plans next.
